Farnborough International Airshow 2024 delivered a focused and forward-looking week for the aerospace and defence sector — and for KDC Projects, it was a valuable opportunity to engage with the technologies, people and programmes shaping the industry’s future.

As a long-standing engineering delivery partner, our presence at the show reflects both our continued investment in the sector and our commitment to being part of its evolution.

We exhibited throughout the week and hosted contacts and customers at the ADS Chalet, using the time to strengthen relationships, build new ones and exchange insights with stakeholders across the value chain.

A Strategic Point of Connection

Industry events like Farnborough offer a rare concentration of engineering decision-makers, programme leads and innovation teams in one place. For KDC, it was a chance to explore how our engineering expertise can support a wide range of future-facing programmes — from sustainable aviation to defence modernisation.

The conversations we had during the week reaffirmed the importance of collaboration and cross-sector thinking. Many of the challenges discussed — digital integration, resource planning, design-to-cost constraints — are areas where we bring real delivery value.

Engineering in Context

From a technical perspective, the show featured a strong mix of current capability and future potential. We saw significant emphasis on hydrogen propulsion, electric aviation, and digital twins — all of which signal a shift towards more sustainable, systems-led thinking in aerospace engineering.

Across the show floor, we had the opportunity to examine new platforms up close, including the Airbus A350‑900 and the Embraer E‑195‑E2. Coupled with the continued rise of advanced air mobility concepts, there’s clearly a growing appetite for engineering-led problem-solving at scale.

Flying Displays and Technical Showcase

The flying programme served as more than spectacle. It was a live demonstration of engineering performance — of how simulation, integration and testing come together in service-ready capability. Watching these aircraft in flight added context to the technical discussions we had across the show.

Informing the Next Phase

Keynotes and panel sessions throughout the week touched on topics highly relevant to our work — from defence procurement frameworks to the digital transformation of manufacturing and the skills pipeline required to support the next generation of engineers.

These insights help shape how we align our internal delivery models to evolving industry demands. They also validate the direction we’re already heading in: flexible, quality-focused engineering that meets the shifting needs of major aerospace and defence programmes.

Moving Forward

Events like Farnborough remind us why it’s essential to remain present and proactive in this sector. They provide more than visibility — they deliver technical insight, market intelligence and genuine connection with the people driving the industry forward.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to speak with us across the week. We look forward to putting those conversations into action.
