Our second KDC Alumni event

After the success of our first Alumni gathering, we were pleased to host our second event at SmartBase UK in Christchurch, which is also home to our recruitment office. It was a relaxed and lively evening, bringing together former and current KDC employees for some good food, a few drinks and plenty of conversation.

Bringing the KDC Community Together

The KDC Alumni network is all about keeping in touch. Whether people have moved on to new roles or are still part of the business, it’s a chance to reconnect, swap stories and share what’s new. There’s real value in maintaining those connections — both professionally and personally — and the atmosphere on the night reflected that.

An Evening of Connection

With food and drinks flowing and plenty of familiar faces in the room, there was no shortage of conversation. The space at SmartBase worked well for the mix of informal chats and larger group discussions, and it didn’t take long for the room to fill with energy. It was great to see people from different parts of the business — past and present — having the chance to catch up.

Inspiring Words from Brendan Hall

We were also joined by Brendan Hall, who gave a brilliant talk about his experience skippering a team to victory in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. He spoke about what it takes to lead under pressure, and the role that trust, teamwork and communication play in getting results. His stories from life at sea offered some useful reminders for life on land too.

Looking Ahead

These events are a simple way to bring people back together, and they really matter. We’re glad so many were able to join us, and we’re already looking ahead to the next one.
